I read this from a pretty nice office, with a pretty nice view of the Statue of Liberty, and a career I’m so proud of, knowing none of it - NONE - would be my reality without the Collegian. Thanks for illuminating this, Ween.
Well done. When I was a student back in the 19(REDACTED)s 😁, I applied to the Collegian to write an opinion column. I tried this out of an inflated opinion of my own writing ability and because I had Things To Say. Apparently the decision makers at The Collegian respectfully disagreed on both counts and I never got the spot. I’m actually not damning The Collegian with faint praise but it was the best newspaper in town and it wasn’t particularly close.
Well stated, Mike. I spent three years writing and editing at the Collegian during the early 1990’s. While I am no longer in journalism, the communication skills and the sense of fairness and equality I learned in that basement on Burrowes will continue to guide me through the rest of my days. A disappointing decision, PSU leadership.

I am sorry to hear this about the Collegian, sir. The Daily Illini was everything for me, and for many many others, and betters.
What a mistake! So short sighted. Wonderful reminiscence of your days at the paper.
Well done, Mike -- couldn't agree more!
