I also remember those days growing up in Central Pennsylvania. Probably highway robbery Stargell had to share MVP that year with Keith Hernandez. Pirates had some great teams in the 70’s

I still remember during that World Series, the wives of the players, all dressed in their fur coats, dancing to that song on top of the dugout . Every time I hear We Are Family, I still picture that scene

Probably my all-time favorite post of yours. Although I grew up in Maine, both my parents were from Pittsburgh and that summer of ‘79 will always be etched in my memory. Dave Parker was undeniably cool but thankfully I never emulated him with a cigarette in my little league dugout.

All due respect the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers are the coolest MLB of all time. Gorman Thomas would tailgate and have a beer or two with the fans after the game. How many MLB cities have 100,000 people show up for a parade for a team that lost the World Series?

The 79 Pirates were ok but they're not the coolest, interestingly Disco ended that summer at a White Sox game
